Last Night Was Lucky Elephant Night!!

Hey Everyone! How is your Sunday so far??

Mine is sunny, believe it or not! Ok, partly cloudy, but who's looking? (Besides me!)

Last  night was definitely Lucky Elephant night. I took one of my favorite stamp sets of all time and made as many different color combinations as I could. Some of the combos came from suggestions from people who were entering my giveaway - I just happen to be giving away one of these awesome sets tomorrow night - and some combos came from my own head. Yes, be very afraid!!

As you know, there are no real hard and fast rules with color. You can go by the color wheel or color charts and try to use complementary colors or adjacent colors or whatever. Sometimes pink and white DOES look good together and sometimes the complementary colors are too boring and you need to spice it up. I tried to do that with these cards. I used embellishments, gold and silver foil paper (the thick kind) and glimmer paper all to my advantage. Some ribbon made its way onto a couple of cards and I embossed nearly each one in some way. I like the technique we recently re-learned where we are able to use Versamark and then any color ink we choose to literally emboss in any color. This is using clear embossing powder, of course. With the metallics or the opaque color embossing powder you would not get the same result. Clear embossing powder is awesome!

Check these out and tell me what you think:
As green is my favorite color (besides gold) you know I had to put this card together! The elephant is  Pear Pizzazz (with the clear embossing powder) and the glimmer is our new mint macaron glimmer paper. Don't forget that will be available in just TWO more days for FREE in the Sale-A-Bration promotion. For each $50 purchase you can choose one free item and now the new glimmer papers are available as a combo pack; you get Sweet Sugarplum, Bermuda Bay, and Mint Macaron. So pretty!!
This one was something I wanted to do by incorporating some of the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Urban Underground into the card but giving it a pop of pink with the Melon Mambo elephant. Again, the clear embossing powder was brought into play along with the stitched Melon Mambo ribbon as embellishments. Silver foil card stock is seen peeking out from the layer below the elephant and also in the oval scallop shape for "Good Luck."
This card was inspired by a suggestion from a team mate for Melon Mambo, Grey, and Bermuda Bay. I simply embossed the elephant in Basic Grey with clear embossing powder, and accented with the other two colors. A little glitz on the elephant's ornamental saddle, and the stitched Melon Mambo again.
This card is super cute in person but the photo doesn't quite capture it. From the Subtle Designer Series Paper (DSP) paper stack, Wisteria Wonder is a super pretty light purple color that is soft and delicate. Here it just looks sort of grey!! I embossed the elephant in Wisteria Wonder and stamped "Good Luck" in black and embossed it in black as well. The silver  1/8 " ribbon works well behind the elephant layer. The silver star embellishments were used to add a bit of bling.
Here is a rendition using another color suggestion from a teammate with Island Indigo and Daffodil Delight. The gold 1/8" ribbon came into play along with the gold sequins which I left connected to their little string and draped over the elephant's saddle.
Lastly, this Delightful Dijon and Melon Mambo was suggested by a new page member who is interested in getting more involved with stamping. She has a good eye for color, right?? This looks super cute in person too and I used the Delightful Dijon with clear embossing powder for Mr. Elephant. More paper from the Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack from Urban Underground for the first layer and the Melon Mambo for the second layer. Accented with Melon Mambo watercolor pencils on the elephant's ornamental saddle and lots of bling in the way of Basic Rhinestones. Pretty!

On that note, I hear my family calling me. Today's agenda includes some de-cluttering of my craft area and the master bedroom. We are getting a donation ready for our local Goodwill and Salvation Army and it is time for the trucks to come. Mama's closet is getting looted for that. Anything I have not worn in a year will be going for a one-way trip and hopefully making room for other items that are new.

What are you all up to this Sunday??

Whatever it is, enjoy your family and be safe out there.
